if you have abs.. bleed the brakes with the engine running..

When I worked for vw.. the old boys always swore by it...  and to be honest I have always just done it..

What happens if you dont bleed with the engine running?
As i have abs and i did t have the car running.

well from what I remember the abs pump only runs when the engine is running. so iut stops air locks in the abs pump... but I suspect its the old boys being safe that sorry...

Well after some research the majority of people are saying to NOT have the engine running,  apparently its completely unnecessary and just creating more risks whilst work under the vehicle.
