very sorry to hear about your situation mate, which seems to be made worse by the unwillingness of the insurance company.

if I was you mate I would ask to speak to a manager and make a formal complaint, which they will have to take seriously. if you bark loud enough, you will get what you want.

good luck anyhow and I hope things get sorted soon.

Really sorry to hear things not going well.  Hopefully you'll get some joy from ombudsman, at the very least it sounds like Allianz administration of your claim has been poor

Don't know if you've seen this thread but there's a bit of info from ombudsman in it, though the circumstances of the car loss were different, it may be relevant.

Hope things start to look up.

Thanks for the thread, it made interesting reading. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be that lucky as my insurance company don't have anybody else to rape and pillage!!

Feel for you.  I'm insured with VW too!!

My mate got his TT back, all intact and still with money and CD's in glove box ......obviously didn't share his taste in music

Good evening,

Just an update to where things are for me at the minute. :undecided:

I have had an offer from Allianz, who are the company behind VW Insurance, which would leave me £950 shy of a new Mk7 GTI spec'd with 5 doors and white paint. Which means I will have lost out on the leather and obviously will be out of pocket. Its taken a lot of fighting to get up to that figure and Booth 11 sent me a passage from the ombudsman's website which I quoted and I think helped to increase the figure.

However I am totally unhappy with the service I've received and today sent a letter to Allianz and VW letting them know that I expect them to meet the full cost of replacement. I listed every call or contact that I've had with them over the last 6 weeks and shown how poor the customer service has been. I told them that they have fallen well below my expectations as I thought I would receive a professional, high quality and efficient service.

Whether they take any notice of what I've said only time will tell!

Hope you get a result mate.

I fail to see the difference between insurance companies and the thieves they are insuring against.  You paid all your premiums in full and didn't try to get away by paying only part of what you owned them, prevaricating and delaying for months... so why the hell should they do so?

Hi Elite

Good to hear you finally had an offer from VW (Allianz) after what sounds like a very stressful experience.

The offer sounds ok, though not for full value of new car as you would expect!!   Glad the ombudsman quote may have helped.  Worth following through with the complaint regardless, even if they don't up the offer, you've got nothing to lose and they should be taken to task over their less than professional service.

Soon to be hanging out in the mk7 section then?
