bbs clearance question
« on: 25 March 2013, 15:58 »
hello,
 i purchased a set of early original vr6 bbs's with a et43  6.5j.
went to get them on today and they will not clear the calipers. ive got a late 16v, so i believe i the 288 vr6 brakes.

i ran down to halfords to get some 5 mm spacers to see if this would help bit it was still catching.

if i buy some 10mm hubcentric spacers with longer wheel bolts will this cure my issue??

also, why do vr6 alloys not fit over the calipers?? i cnt figure it out!!!!!!

Sorry late 16v you've got. That's shocking
I Would have thought they would fit.

All vr6 have 288 brakes. I don't think you have vr6 wheels.

Which wheels have you bought. The BBS Solitude or the other one's with so many spokes

They both should fit without a problem, Looks like you have bought some other bbs rims. post up a pic.

exactly the same as these.

got same part number

just checked mine and got bbs logo on the back and a vw logo

Them are the early vr6 bbs wheels. But again they should have fit. Try 10mm spacers and see if they make a difference. But i'm still not convinced they don't fit  :lipsrsealed:

lol seriously

ive actually just had them refurbished, and was at a garage having my tyres swooped onto them.

had 6 blokes standing around trying to figure it out.

calipers arent all dirty and rusty.

they been professionally refurbished so have been chemically stripped so its not coz theres layers and layer of paint.

I have those exact wheels from one of my previous golfs (RIP) fitted with 288s and there was no problem with them...

Maybe corrado vr6 wheels?

as far as i can tell from googling, and i may very well be wrong, these style bbs's came on g60 which was 4 stud not 5, so would be obvious that it wasn't going to fit..

am i right in thinking people get over caliper issues by using spacers??
if so how bigger spacer can i go with causing rubbage? im lowered 50 on the front.

or do i just get the grinder out?? ( not my favorite option)
