troubles on start up
« on: 23 March 2013, 00:42 »
tried a search but nothing quite like this. more about getting the car started.

Anyways i got a mk3 gti 8v, has been running ok until recently, apart from having to change the coilpack and battery during the last cold spell. on start up the idle has been a bit low and struggling, sometimes stalling. after reving it up for a few minutes or driving down the road a little then its all good and the car will idle as normal. when i say a little i mean not too long at all, way before the temp guage is up. would this be a sensor of some kind causing the issue?
cheers in advance

Hi bud, have you checked the condition of the throttle body to see if its full of crap. This can cause poor idling sometimes.Check temperature sensor aswell .

Hi nhop10,when you say you have a slight oil leak around the head do you mean the rocker cover and is the leak around that cover above the spark plugs?.If so,then you need a new rocker cover gasket and this is quite normal, unfortunately .
