Mk2 on 13's VERY LOW!!

Hi all.... I've just slammed my mk2 on to 13x7, banded steels, and dropped it right down on coil overs. I've put 25mm spacers on the arse end and 5mm up front. I think it looks awesome, and its turning heads like never before. After reading thru some threads I'm learning its more to some people's taste than others. However more to the point and the reason to this post is I've been reading that it affects the gear linkage, but no one has explained why or how? (maybe I haven't looked hard enough) Could someone enlighten me as to how this is the case.... Also, was pondering if it wasn't healthy for the steering although I haven't noticed any immediate differences regarding steering, however cornering does seem a lot better with the stance! As always thanks in advance for any info, but boo hiss if I have to see sense and raise her up a few mil !!

it doesnt affect the gear linkage as its fixed via subframe & gearbox

Could have meant driveshaft linkage. Go too low and they bend upwards, which stresses the bolts and eventually means they shear.

Hi again, unfortunatly I do have some advice regarding the seriously slammed look! Don't do it.... ****ing rozzas pounded my car today, really peed off!! Grounds they gave were that the vehicle was dangerously low, although the only danger I can think of is the danger to the under side of my car from speed bumps... also regarding 'tyre stretch' they said that they were dangerous as they aren't within manufactures guidelines, although after some homework I've found that there not illegal (more a vosa thing) so I'll be gladly throwing that back in their faces!!.... But saying that, the 14inch standards will be going back on as I don't need the hassle ( cops are eager round 'r' way) and the ride height is going back up for obvious reasons!! Bloody rozzas!!

Never heard of this before! and i'v seen loads of cars on there ass plus stretched wheels like crazy! Must of met one very bored police officer! if i was you id fight your right and not pay any fee :-/

.... Some more info for you dubbers, this is now looking like 3 points and a £60 fine, minimum! ... and it gets worse, I have to attend the courts!! Got a summons today, yes that was unusually quick, the letter gives the usual bla bla bla, but also says that although the wheels were declared on the insurance, because the tyres fitted are not within the manufacturers recommendations, the tyre manufacturer not the car manufacturer, it makes the insurance void, and so I'm getting done for driving without insurance!!!! This bit I'm getting really confused at, going to be fighting this one in the courts... Have looked into it and its NOT ILLEGAL, there RECOMMENDATIONS, like they recommend you don't drive in high heels, but its not illegal, not that I drive in high heels!! It all seems like a grey area, but if its not law, how can they impose it as law??  Aaaaarrrggggghhhhhhhhhhh anyone in the forums a lawyer!!
