Mmmmmm, I see what your saying, but my argument goes;

By fitting stretch tyres, have I broken the law.. No!

Simples!!

Also regarding an mot fail, the vosa chap who went over every nook and cranny couldn't fault anything else. When they do your mot, I'm sure they check tyre tread depth, not tyre stretch?!? So I'd have thought it would have been a pass?!? Again, back in that grey area!!

I'm thinking the coppa saw the car and thought 'boy racer' I'm having him!! Typical stereotyping m***** f*****

you need to do a LOT more research on stretch tyres.  :whistle: its been covered on ALL the forums in many ways for and against - its not Simples.

The fact you got a summons already  :shocked:

 and not just a 7 day rectification ticket

add in if your insurance company has said they dont cover stretch tyres ( mine asked when I mentioned aftermarket alloys ) - thus no insurance.

Good luck, I have a feeling you are going to need it.  :lipsrsealed:

Personally being a police officer myself I can't see this going anywhere at court.. What police officer can specify what tyres regulations are from the manufacturer for all the copper knows could be a stretch specific tyre.. Also you can't do someone for being low if all suspension parts are fitted and working not a lot the copper can do..
