Try the relays first as they're cheap, if that doesn't fix it try the crank sensor. Just make sure you get VW or an OE quality aftermarket one. The Premium one from Eurocarparts on my car has been fine, the cheaper failed in 3 days, got my money back on it though!

I'd go for the Delphi one or if you can afford it a Bosch one,but they will knock you back about £100.

The £55 one is the one you want! Can't remember what brand it is but mine has been fine.

Not just yet , im waiting for a relay to come from Volksbits in the post , either monday or tuesday . There parts are very reasonably priced on ebay.

Then ill drive the car untill it happens and replace and see results :)

I still have this problem ! .

Replaced fuel pump relay and taxed car today , started fine .
Drove about for say 15-20mins boom !!

Bogging out backfiring at 2500rpm ish . Somtimes at 3k .
Found a suitable place to pull over and i have a vid to explain what happened .

After this vid i walked to a shop got meself a drink and more smokes ! I got back to the car exactly 2mims later , temp gauge was still in centre 90deg .Turned key it was sweet as fook :/ so drove the say 5 min remainder home if that ! .

If im right in thinking this could be a temperature switch/sensor still telling the engine its cold and in essence giving more fuel when not needed ! ??

Video is just uploading via photobucket will post link asap !
