Tracking, tyre pressure check, lots of paintwork polishing and wax to let the wind flow clean off the bodylines. Thats about it

how much power do you want ?

if you've got the £££ you can have the ponies even from a 1.8 8v.   8 valve heads can be made good for 100bhp/ltr if your pockets can cope

Tell me more about this polishing, what power gains should I expect, 30-40 bhp? Would the introduction of a go faster stripe give similar gains in power?

  • Mk2 GTI FTW !!
Thats an old pic that was uploaded by an old man    Likely to need to by parts from various companies online and either fit yourself or get an engine company.. GTI Engineering done loads of work on golfs back in the day but not any more iirc...

Go ABF you can pick up a complete mk3 16v for like 300 if you keep your eyes out and then fit engine and use your standard 8v box to save time/money and sell the rest you could do the conversion for nothing really and would be 150bhp standard before tuning so much more potential
Mk4 Golf GTI anniversary and mk6 golf tdi :)

ring up JNL raceing   arrange to send him your engine  and some money.

decent headwork ,   good cam , and ether just a refresh or bore it out to 83mm and the ponies will arrive. will cost tho
