how low on coils can you go with 16"

About to get some coilovers. And wondering how low I can go on 16" standard gti wheels without rubbing? 40 or 50 mm.

You need to worry about your front ARB more than the size of the wheels.

Completely depends on the rest of the car
the wheels arnt the factor of how low you go if you had a under driveshaft arb and a notch in the chassis you could put it on the floor

Will get new wheels eventually.  Want it lowered first. Then the R32 body kit.

16 inch alloys + Very low = Mosaic Sump

If you're getting coilovers then why ask? They're adjustable for a reason...

Because if you csn only go 40mm without changing things to the car then I might as well just get 40mm springs and save my self some money.

And get 18s later on and buy coil overs then? Waste of cash?

Buy coil overs and then you can go up and down as you wish. I would say for what your talking about.
