Difference Between GTI and Non GTI Suspension.
« on: 20 February 2013, 16:12 »
I've got a 1.8 Driver MK3 and got a set of GTI suspension spare.

I know the GTI suspension is 15mm lower than normal Golf suspension but was wondering if thats lower on the springs or if the shocks are different size/lower.

cheers.

GTI is "+" suspension, 1.8 is standard suspension.  Lots of differences, ARB, Wishbones, ball joints, etc.

Look here at the different parts for GTI vs Non GTI -> http://www.vwspares.co.uk/g3suspension.php
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

shockers are the same, it's the springs that make the gti that bit lower

although as said the arms, anti roll bars etc are different too (19mm arb instead of 17mm for example)

Standard GTI shocks are crap and best off in the bin, use the springs with a new set of gas shocks (Boge are a good choice)

Boge turbo gas are what you want if you want to retain some comfort and steer away from sea sickness.
