Crank breather block off

Evening all.

Been reading a bit on yank forums and all the 8v chaps over there seem to block off their crank case breathers. Now I thought about doing this, to clean the engine up abit, just wondering why nobody over here has done it!?

Surely there is some breathing wen on a good engine... Therefore blanking that off would mean it trying to escape from elsewhere..  Piston rings, crank seal etc?

Anyone shine some light?

Can't think of a good reason why you would do this, i'd leave it as it is.

Yup they sure do. However the block is the same. And I also have a crossflow head. Hence my asking!  :cool:

The breather set up on the standard engine is significantly similar to a euro 8v anyways...

EDIT: I've done away with the standard Inlet setup, so there is nowhere to put the breather back I to the inlet. What should I do put a breather filter in the outlet where it used to join the inlet pipe of one in the rocker cover and one in top of the crank breather pipe next to my inlet manifold on the crossflow head. This is why I was asking.

Didn't mean to sound funny in previous posts. Could have worded more politely  :smiley:

Righto in it stays. Next question then, if I put the crank case breather on a small filter, could I put it straight out the flange on front of the block, therefore hiding it under my carb manifold.. Or will it piss out oil all te time?

I would vent it into a catch can, you will get a lot of fumes if you vent it to air.

Not too worried about the fumes, I don't do that many mile in it, I'm just worried if I put a filter on the block flange then it's gonna splat oil all over all my nice shiney clean engine!? Can someone confirm or deny this? Don't want a catch tank as ie cleaned the bay!  :cool:

The filter will stop oil going everywhere but it'll block up pretty quick.
