Gauge fitting problems/questions
« on: 13 February 2013, 13:45 »
Hey guys.
Still havnt got round to fitting my boost gauge and voltmeter gauge yet. Just attempted it but hit a few snags.
1st question is where have you guys rooted the boost hose through. I can't find a gromit on the firewall answer and don't really want to have to take the scuttle panel off.

2nd question do u connect the volt meter wires directly on to the battery?and if so do I need to inline fuse the positive wire at all.

Cheers in advance hopefully lol.

Don't need to take scuttle off get a metal coathanger and just move scuttle a little and poke through where the bonnet release comes through ,tape pipe to coathanger job done

You may risk rain water entering the cab if you do it like this ^^^ without sealing it.

I did spot the bonnet cable and think of putting it throught there but as u say it will need sealing afterwards.
Whats involved in taki g the scuttle off. Do u need to remove the wiper arms on mk4??

Any body else got any info on routing the boost pipe??

Also need the volt metre gauge question answering if possible guys cheers :)

Run it down the inside of the wing/door and pop it through the grommet there

If you take the glovebox out there's a grommet just behind there which leads out to the left of the scuttle panel. I did the bonnet cable way and ended up filling the csr with water every time it rained

I used the bonnet cable grommet and it leaked, ended up drilling a hole in the bulkhead.
