mk3 turbo conversion wiring questions
« on: 09 February 2013, 19:37 »
hi all, new on here

i've had a mk4 a while now and i've just bought a mk3 gti to transplant the running gear into, i also want to fit the dash and clocks from the mk4 into the mk3 so instead of using a modified engine loom and modifying the dash loom is it possible to transplant the whole loom from the 4 into the 3?
if i do this will i still have to get the ecu immobilizer removed or will it all work fine?
will i have to change any plugs over to use existing mk3 components like the lights, wiper motors etc

edit: donor car is a 1999 agu

^^ That thread answers none of his questions really.

Transplanting the whold thing is a hell of a job, but do-able all the same, some welding/grinding/drilling/cutting and fabricating is required to get the 4 dash to physically fit in the 3. Getting the engine to run is relatively easy doing it this way since yr nott chopping into engine looms etc and you are using the existing keys, ecu and clocks. You need to get yr hands on both full wiring diagrams to wire in the doors, boot, light and fuel system, many wire colours are matched between the 3 and 4 but obviously some arent.
Will take a lot of patience, head scratching, shouting, swearing and probably a few tears but i think it will be worth it, have considered a dash swap in mine a few times and it may still happen.
If you do it, take loads of pics

too much hassle

my S3 engine is on Audi looms and ECU too

but in this case, if he wants to use a mk4 dash, you can buy looms from kufec to do this

just install the engine and splice the wiring into the mk3 fuse box

to re wire the whole car with mk4 stuff would take forever and your doing stuff you dont need to do

seen your car in forsale section, thats not a S3 engine as the TB is on wrong side, so i doubt yours has a S3 loom but i agree, this is the best way to wire it in

Sorry for hi jack but is the AC part of engine loom?

Basically I have a AC gti and non AC vr6 donor. I want to run the AC on the vr and just want a easy job. Electrics do me in
