Some people need to learn for about eletronics and plugs.

Air bag is fine to disconnect while battery is connected.

surely you disconnect the battery for the airbag to release the charge so it doesn't go off in your face?

The air bag needs a signal from the ignitor and that will need a signal from a sensor and this will need power from the ignition so I very much doubt the airbag could ever accidently go off  ,but still knowing this I allways disconnect the battery

i just did this to my mk3 vr6.  cheapest mod ever!

i got a handy elec guy to solder in a socket as my original chip was soldered to the board.

i also had to get vagcommed to get the factory immobiliser to adapt to the new chip

a definite improvement in the lower revs range (2-3500).  ive done a pod filter and a CAI, extractors, and a 2.5in exhaust.  but this chip was the biggest "seat of your pants" feeling mod!

no petrols figures yet, but im certain it will be less.  the tune seems to be a little leaner, as the car doesnt pop and fart as much hopping off the gas.

that said, im driving it harder, so fuel consumption could be worse!  :)

highly recommended

It is recommended to disconnect. If you want to risk serious injury by not doing so then go ahead!

Actually if you read a Haynes manual it tells you to disconnect the battery if you are doing any electrical related work!
Bit excessive for plugs/leads etc and changing fuses/relays.
