Are these chips really worth it? I have a vr6, what benefits would I get once fitted?

To anyone that has done this already, how about a to do guide with some pics, they always speak a thousand words.

not sure about a vr but is imagine it would give you similar benefits to the 16v chip.. drivability is better and smoother, better response, more power and sometimes better mpg although I'm yet to drive sensibly enough to see it yet :)

I'd imagine there would be a how to if you search the net..

in a nutshell do this though (piece of pisss to install)
1. disconnect battery
2. remove black plastic trim under right hand side of bonnet between engine and windscreen, a couple of x-head plastic screws
3. ecu is to the left of cabin filter
4. remove 2 10mm nuts
5. pull out ecu
6. pull back plastic cover exposing the loom plug
7. pull off air hose if you have one
8. pull ecu plug out
9. remove 4 torx screws and 2 x-head screws and pull circuit board out
10. unclip chrome cover
11. pull out old chip
12. push in new chip
13. reverse for re-install

simples :)

comes with instructions too

Can I point out battery needs to be disconnected from BOTH TERMINALS! and leave half hour disconnected before unplugging the ECU.

Otherwise this happens

Thankfully I managed to repair it properly and it's been fine since.

you'll be fine mate as long as you follow the instructions. I disconnected both and pulled the ecu out right away and had no problems whatsoever.

Khare should have known better!

It has been said many, many times on here that if you are doing any electrical work then disconnect for at least 15 minutes.
Disconnect completely! Both terminals and make sure those terminals an not touching any metal of the car.

This applies to things like air-bag removal.
This will also reset the ecu as well.

The standard fuel/air mix is set lean and so is the ignition.
So the chip changes both for the better.
Not all chips are the same and some like mine dont give the same power.
