Dashboard question??
« on: 06 February 2013, 06:16 »
Does anyone know how or have a guide on removing the whole dashboard in the mk4?
Pretty sure I could do it but 99% guarantee I get caught out by some sort of hidden screw/bolt and snap something

Any help is appreciated!

Is there not a full guide on vortex? I'm sure I found one a while back on there when I wanted to remove part of it to change the clutch pedal out. That's where I'd look anyways bud.

Pop the side panels off (where the fuse box is and the opposite side) Theres a few either side there, pop the dash out (theres three under it and three inside it but Dont pull it off then because theres one hidden under the heater switches. To get to this there are two screws either side of the gear stick next to the seats and two further up the same panel into the footwell. Give the gear stick a good tug and you'll be able to pull it out. Then take the surround off the heater/blower knobs and there is four there, pull the diagnostics port cover off and there is one there. Once the drivers side panel is off ypur can pull the surround under the steering wheel off there is half a dozen there you cant miss. Then take the steering wheel off and the clocks out, again screes you cant miss and there is one behind the clocks. Finally take the heated rear window and hazard light buttons out and that shoud be it. I found YouTube very helpful when i changed my heater matrix. Hope that helps

Cheers nerf, I already have the glovebox out and the surround of the gear stick out so its just the main dashboard will give it a look at later!

It's for the track car!
Stripping unwanted wiring like the rear speakers and airbag wiring and also removing the soundproofing behind there
