MKIV Advice greatly needed!
« on: 04 February 2013, 13:20 »
Hi there, getting a bit concerned with my airbag issue
Have been going round in circles searching this forum and others for advice on my side airbag sensors - they're going to fail my MOT and starting to panic a bit now.

Problem is here http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=248124.msg2279191#new
(long story short - diagnostics say 01221 & 01222 at fault, everything I have tried - has failed)

I've followed all the advice on the forums and still no joy.

After installing new sensors and still getting the errors I started from scratch and did more searching.
Found this website...

My airbag module has the part number 1CO 909 605 A, yet it's a Golf, not a Polo/Passat

Starting to wonder if the previous owner made an attempt at sorting this problem, installed the wrong module and gave up?

Here are my original sensors :

Really needing some help here, no car, no mechanic mates so it's google and forums for help and I'm just going round in circles
Cheers

I don't know much about the aibags but I do know you can't change something they are all matched up together. I would assume that they can be matched up using Vagcom. I also know lots of parts are used for more than one model. I have a guy who buys the whole air bag system from me Drivers, passager modules under the carpets and the central module ecu. He repairs smashed up mk4's. someone on here must be able to help you, hope that helps in some way  :undecided:

If it's a case of having all the same parts matched up you may be in luck as I have just stripped it all out of the track car
I will check the part number on my airbag control unit later

R-tech custom remap - k04-001- 250bhp/311ftlb

"Project track car" has begun

Might be a daft question but have you removed the codes? The light wont go out until you've done that. My airbag light is on but Theres nohing wrong with it i need to delete the code as i took the steering wheel off and disconected it

Sell my Vw??? I'd rather stick wasps up my arse

first off i'd recommend  some proper vag diagnostics that will give you the fault description rather than just a number. There are 4 possible options and a £20 handheld scanner just won't cut it. I don't have the data to hand but if the airbag module is wrong for the car it may well be incompatible with the crash sensors.
