dude, thats like a rear panel and at most 2 a couple of floor pans.... thats nothing, you should see what mk1 & mk2 escorts look like when you start repairing those, a good friend bought what looked to be a solid 72 mk1 escort, so far the replacment panels run in at, an
A pillar
2 inner wings
rear panel,
bulkhead,
heater bowl,
2 outer wings
front panel
front cross member
passenger footwell front and rear
passenger sill
rear lower quarters both sides
and a drivers door

weve only had it there 3 weeks and that set him back 3k for the car alone!!

to me this rust from these phots looks a touch like a mole hill, personally if it was mine i'd be cutting in new panels and welding them up, especially for an oak green 16v!!

and thats so far, and weve not finished

Agree with above
Buy a new rear repair panel and find a one man band welder he may well do a cash in hand job don't go to a big body shop they add vat overheads all that malarkey. What I'm sayin is rather than loose a load of money and your car spend a little more than you already have and keep the 16 valve

Had a oak green with worst rust than that in the boot. You could see daylight all the way along.
Got a quote of 350 to weld in new rear panel and arch.
Why is it oak green golfs are always rusted right out? No wonder they re eBay rare

Ill purchase the back panel and give it to my mechanic, he doesn't do it so not sure if hell get me a good price on it! In all the 3 parts comes to £200 then welding then the spraying, but that's just the rear. Just hope the inner seal hasn't gone! The starter motor connector snapped off the other day
