Don't hold your hopes in getting a new car or money back....getting it fixed is probably the best you will get out of them...

Takes the p how a brand new car needs new gearbox due to a manufacture fault and poss a new engine aswell, they tried getting away with it blaming remap but on inspection found a part to be at fault. Hopefully straight forward warranty claim as I have a letter from vw saying my warranty is not affected by my remap as they can not prove it causes damage and also 250 quid compensation for my hassle

Lucky result as most dealers just tell you to go away when its remapped...they blame the extra strain on the components, unless its by certain tuners who deal with the dealers...didnt APR deal with VWUK at one point?

Either way...good luck

Getting a gearbox issue sorted after a remap is one thing.  Getting a possible engine rebuild will be quite another !
Anyway, good luck

Looks like the cambelt our pully has failed how could a remap cause this, car has been stock since gearbox issue so going to be a worrying week

??

If the cam belt has failed it would have broken completely. I've seen cam belts hanging on by threads and the engine hasn't gone??

It shouldn't affect this to be honest, but a remap is an excuse if the dealers want to try use it...extra stresses on all components etc.

Hope you get it sorted

It's not the dealers that have a problem with tuned cars it's vw, if they say there not going authorise it to be done under warranty then dealer won't fix it. However vw has to prove that the damage was caused by the mods and not a faulty part
