From what I've understood of all this (I'm new to this too), protein shakes are there for convenience, they aren't bad but you should get your protein from natural sources such as chicken, fish, etc.

My diet seems to be working for me but it will vary from person to person as everyone is different, but you should be eating more wholesome foods, making stuff yourself and include veggies and fruit. I've been doing it since the beginning of January now and I've lost 6 pounds (not cash, but fat).

I would suggest you have a read through their forums but first and foremost read this:

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=121703981

It makes a lot of sense once you get to grips with it. If you're trying to lose weight you need to be eating at a calorie deficit, not much but enough that it's healthy. Like I said, read through their forums and it will start making sense.

Sorry chuff

Yeah ultimately it's all about the diet!! Maybe the 3 shakes I take a day isn't the best for me, but there not doing me any harm, and the workout I'm doing ATM, mass bulk with high amount of reps low weight working up to low rep high weight is working wonders!!

With the added 3 days a week 'rest' days cardio! Is doing me wonders really improving my focus and goals!!

I'm having porage every morning! Haven't had brekfast for years! Cut all the choc out and sweets! And I feel great for it!!

And drink 2l of water a day! I drink 1l in the day and 1l during training!
My skin has improved a lot aswell, not as spotty etc!

Sounds good mate. I'm the same (cut out all the crap). There's nothing wrong with having protein shakes like I said, but is better from natural sources first. Protein shake is good for after a workout though.

It's a good feeling after working out, although as I'm new to it all after doing weights my muscles were crying out last week, especially legs. Walked like a zombie on Wednesday which was 2 days after the leg workout. Hopefully next week will be more forgiving.

A great pre workout would be to have a black coffee with coconut oil and a few almonds. Avoid eating anything that is carbs pre-workout (I assume fat loss is the goal). Eating carbs pre is counterproductive.

RE protein shakes, to begin i would only take post workout (unless you are unable to get your daily protein requirement in during the day without them). Stick to meats, veg and good fats.

a great fat loss tip I always utilise with clients is to increase non-starchy vegetables to 500g/50kg of body weight for a couple of weeks. Never fails do drop pounds. Sounds like a lot, but it works!

3 protein shakes a day is a bit much unless you are properly training for competition, if it isn't used it's converted to fat.

Since when?? Think you have been reading the wrong Info. It's excess carbs that converts to fat.

Try and Ingest a 1g of protien per pound of bodyweight.
So depending on what your diet is, you need to supplement extra protien to achieve this. Whether it is 1 or 2 scoops per shake depending in your lean weight.

A shake directly after training with some carbs aids recovery. Another before bed, and first thing in the morning is fine.

It's Not always possible to eat proper food when at work so you have to compromise.

Since the beginning of man.

It does depend on just how much you are ingesting and how active you are. As it will primarily be broken down to aid muscle repair and energy use, but by that logic you could just stuff yourself with protein and become the same size as Ronnie Coleman.

There are plenty of sites, and papers that describe the numerous breakdown phases of protein as it is used, it is not quite so simple as it goes in and muscle grows though. Sadly.
