so you want

    4 wheel drive
    Performance orientated, not comfort/cruiser
    Can have 4 doors
    Must have a turbo
    Must be petrol
    250hp-350hp

for sub 3K   ????

you do realise it'll be about f**ked and most of the cars that fit the bill are harder than a mk3 to work on so you may be f**ked there as well,  all high output turbo lumps drink btw so get used to sub 20 mpg on a good day.   its near certanty that a cheep evo will need a clutch immantley and or have gearbox issues.   cheep old subarus arnt exactly cheep to own ether.

this chould be very comical for everyone watching
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Evo 5 is the final choice

And budget will be around £5,000. Let's see just how much I've saved by the end of the year

Agreed. Been on an evo forum and evo 4's seem to be going for around £3000-£4000, evo 5's for £4000-£5000 and evo 6's £5000 upwards. Evo 5 for me. Bigger injectors, stronger engine, better turbo and flashable ECU.

That's true, but then again they say buy a car from old people as they're never ragged yet they're the ones that are most likely to go bang as they often go years between servicing. Buying an evo, especially off an evo forum would mean I'd be buying it from someone who genuinely has an interest in that car and takes care of it.
