Agreed,I'd not be mapping a 3k evo or scoob but even when standard are a million miles away in handling, braking and performance from an S3.

Go for the evo (I had a ralliart evo 6 a long time ago) but know this they have a tiny fuel tank and your likley to get 100 miles or less from a tankful when driven hard which did my head in

Chuff, great suggestions. The skyline is in my narrowed down list, even as a rwd. The Scooby would have very subtle mods and definitely be bought standard, otherwise god knows what Barry boy owned it. Doc, the evo would be my choice over the scoob, but evos are more expensive, can buy one for 3000 but they start at that so I presume they'd be dogs. It's a choice between skyline and Scooby I think  :undecided:

Have you considered a Seat Leon Cupra R (late mk1), with some fettling and a remap these can pump out plenty of go-go and are pretty well equipped for the money?
Im hoping to get one of these or a Cupra TDI in the next few months,  still undecided on petrol or derv though.

They're fwd though, needs to be 4wd or rwd if it's the perfect car.

evo all the way  hopefully my next car you can get decent 3's or 4's for 3k budget jap cars dont brake like these soft german motors best thing if choosing one is to get a uk model with fsh or atleast a well maintained and enthusiast owned my brother in law has had an evo 8 for 6 years now and only thing he's had to replace is tyres or service it with not a bit of trouble

That said if you went scooby for the same price you can get something 2 maybe 3-4 years younger for same price

or consider an m3 evo 3.2 rwd but a great all rounder 320bhp :D
