I remember seeing it too but wouldn't enable it as my lights would look broken half the time as they'd be flashing lol

It's activated on my GTI and no amount of hard braking on the road has triggered it.

But when we almost got squashed on the M9, and a full-on emergency stop was required, mates in the car behind commented that the indicators were flashing.
Can't say I noticed anything in the car though.

Thanks guys, I was thinking of activating this option and have my missus drive behind me to test that it works, so you have just saved me (and her) some time and effort

Also, Scott.......how much hard-braking do you do pal ?!!!
Hope not to drive behind you

I imagine the last thing you were thinking is whether your hazards were flashing at the time! They go off when you stop.

Brake lights flashing will probably not work over here, even if you seem to enable it as the car won't pass type approval. The lights have to be on constantly. Some BMW's brake lights come on brighter if they brake really hard

Correct, the lights get brighter the harder the brake pedal is pressed.  Some BMWs have had this feature since 2003

I'm sure I saw the brake lights of a Ferrari 458 Italia flash whilst the driver broke hard on the M1. It was on UK plates too...??

Only if I'm having fun on some empty roads

Or the occasional overtake and then the bloody traffic lights change (had that a few times on one road)

I think it's also based on ABS .. so if that kicks in and you're breaking hard, it will flash em. Not hard to do on damp UK roads with crappy Bridgestones!

They do this when you do an emergency stop.

Only if they have been set to do that with VCDS.

Fast flashing indicators normally means a bulb on that side isn't working that would show up as a bulb out warning.

Well she tells me the hazards are flashing sometimes when she is sitting parked and the doors locked themselves when she got out.
