Considering the amount of remapped cars on the various VW/Audi/SEAT/Skoda forums they aren't exactly awash with people saying their cars have blown up on a stage 1 map.
I've had the pleasure of about a dozen remapped cars now and (touch wood) have not had anything other than a bit of clutch slip on a couple of TDIs done years ago which were quickly mapped back a bit so that the torque didn't spike at 2000rpm.
Put it this way, I see no point whatsoever in getting a turbo car if you're not going to map it, you'd be much better off with a big engine with NA if you're not going to map. Factory maps are as dull as ditchwater and i'd rather take the bus...
