assuming mk3, the top mount in your hand in the first pic is the one you want, that goes straight up into the arch then the top plate bolts on from above. Dont use a gun as you will spin the shaft and burn the seal out.

what im trying to get at is does the mount go straight onto the blue bit on coilover.
as the first pic with the mk2 mount fitted shows a plate between the shock and the mount

Don't count out the fact that one of the front brake calipers could be partially seized also causing it to pull to one side.

i've got the same problem....have you checked the strut mount tops havent lifted? thats what mine is getting them next weekend
