just a quick question..do i need to change the housing as well or is this optional?

The flange is a cheap part and they tend to break/warp over time so it's worth replacing at the same time.

Its optional BUT be warned if its not been touched for years they are very prone to fracturing on removal or replacement.

just replace at the same time... not worth the hassle to redo everything... if the bolts look sh!te get 2 new ones as well. M6x22 and a thick washer if I remeber correctly.
