fitting a cone filter to a mk3 16v
« on: 23 December 2012, 20:57 »
hey sorry if this has been covered before..

i wanna fit my k+n cone to my valver just until I buy a panel to go in the airbox. only question what do I do with the breather pipe at the top that runs from the intake manifold to the airbox? also there are two small cables going into the right hand side of the airbox, what do i do with those?

cheers :)

The breather hose will need a small filter on it or the breather system adapted for a catch can. The two small tubes on the side of the airbox are vacuum hoses for the hot air flap and can be binned.

It's like a cone filter but scale size

aha i've seen those before.. so i just buy one of those, attach it and it's ok to just hang loose?

one more question.. i noticed another pipe that feeds the rear of the base of the airbox, what about this badboy?

And yup, just let the breather hang loose, obviously secure it so it doesn't drop down to the alternator belt or get in the way of anything else.

Panel filter in the standard air box is a much better bet, all the cone filter will do is suffer heat soak.
