With the poor running my car has had recently, i've replaced some of the vac lines, which has sorted it...happy days

Red lines are the new ones:

But...

I have, in the following order from Left to Right in the 'wells' for the spark plugs:
1: A little oil - 2: A large lake of oil - 3: A small lake of oil - 4: Nothing! Clean as a whistle! Not had the plugs out yet to see what they are like though.

Also, the breather from the bottom of the engine to the black square plate is coverd (2-3mm think) mayo!?

Oil is just below Max, and i've not put anything in it since i bought it. It also uses a bit of coolant, but i think it's leaking from the right side of the block (looking from the front). I've cleaned out the breathers best i can for now, it'll be serviced pretty soon, so i'll probably replace the breather aswell as it feels pretty weak anyway, but why would it be covered in white stuff? I was thinking as it's loosing a little coolant it may be the head gasket gone between oil and water ways? The coolant is as it should be though, no oil floating and no oily smell to it?...
Engines filthy under the manifold, so i did wonder it it was simply a case of the last owner spilt a load of it if it needed topping up?
