thanks for all the messages guys  i've thought about it and i'm now not so annoyed about the car as you can't change the past and 'what ifs' are pointless. a bit of life experience yes... i think it's the shock that got me the most, haven't ever crashed before!

had a look today (was a bit dark for photos) and the engine is now slanted. i can rock it back and forth and there's a piece that's snapped at the bottom back right under the coolant bubble, i think it's the subframe or where the engine mounts or something, i'm guessing this means writeoff? 

Subframe and engine can be replaced, its the chassis that you need to be judging it on. My guess would also be that the legs are bent and it won't be worth repairing. Post a couple of pictures taken in the light and we'll have a better idea.

Just saying if your exhaust is pushed back then so is your engine. Hench the grinding noise. May as well write it off.

Some people a bit keen on jumping to conclusions.

Possibly it's just an engine mount or two sheared off.  Inspect carefully, or get someone experienced with such things and without a vested interest to inspect it.

thanks. the exhaust is just bent actually, think the grinding is from all the snapped bits!
