Aslong as your ok mate thats what really matters. small incidents like these happen, I was only 18 when my first car spun out on ice and ended up in a tree, i wasn't even insured

Pick up a solid 8v shell for under £500, swap off all the good bits sell the rest on ebay, weigh in the shell.
You will be back to square one with fully working Mk3 and a parts bin for about £200.
Its only a car and a Mk3 at that
