Quick one, Cambelt change ABF

Not long after I bought the car I bought a cam belt kit (about two years) I just haven't fitted it yet. Should of changed it when I changed my cam shaft, but forgot I had it and the one on it looks fine 


It's also been serviced from vw ever year and they haven't done it.

Yes your absolutely right, for example if a brand new tyre is left unused, after a good few years cracks start to appear and it will loose its strength.

Same scenario as a belt. and to be honest, i would not risk it, as my uncle's lexus timing belt snapped and its wrecked the whole engine.

Yes i know it will bend a few valves, But with it being a 24 valve engine, It aint worth it getting it repaired.

And wouldn't it be easier to change the belt or looking for a replacement engine?

ABF is 16V not 24V
