60k would be a good time to change.

When are you going to change yours then Tweed? If the amount of time on the car doesn;t matter are you going to change it after a certain mileage?

If the 5 years has elapsed, change it.

A belt & tensioner cost a lot less than fixing the damage caused by a snapped belt.
Including:
  • new valves
    belt & tensioner
    new oil
    new coolant
    head gasket kit
    head bolts

Cambelt should be replaced every 4/5 years regardless of mileage.

Even if it hasnt moved the rubber could potentially be perished and weakened with age.

Yes your absolutely right, for example if a brand new tyre is left unused, after a good few years cracks start to appear and it will loose its strength.

Same scenario as a belt. and to be honest, i would not risk it, as my uncle's lexus timing belt snapped and its wrecked the whole engine.
