Slow return to idle
« on: 25 November 2012, 20:49 »
Hi all,
My 8v pb has an issue with a really slow return to idle when changing gear, it doesn't 'snap' back to idle like it should. Also, when I first start it (regardless of hot or cold), the idle will creep up gradually to about 2500rpm but after a few minutes it idles as it should at around 900rpm, should I suspect a vacuum leak or something else, this one has got me beat, which doesn't happen often!!
Thanks in advance
James

sounds vacume-ish. Spray carb cleaner around the suspect areas. The revs will rise where there is a leak.

Check the inlet pipe. They always crack and the clutch cable can rub through it sometimes.

Had been spraying all around with carb cleaner and got no changes, thought I'd give it another go today and sprayed the base of the injectors and et voila, a slight rise in revs. Looks like the inlet manifold is coming off this weekend.
