Bit of an update, contacted the previous owner he said VW installed it.
My local VW said if they had proof via an invoice they maybe able to do something in terms of warranty.
So bit of a waiting game.
Spoke to someone else described my problems and he said;
This clearly is a hardware problem. It can be as simple as dying HDD, but there are some other components which can be faulty too, like PSU/amplifier board or bad soldering joint somewhere on motherboard.
