The car in question was a MK2 golf and was built using a 5 litre engine out of a TVR Griffith 500, complete with cosworth T5 gearbox.
In the article in "The GOLF" magazine dated April 2002 the builder of said car, andy leech used a Cerbera chassis and fitted a GOLF shell over it which had the centre tunnel cut away.
So its more of a TVR chassis with a golf body on it and this was made by an ex employee of TVR.

TORQUE 300 lbs/ft
top speed 149mph
And my particular favourite is the 0-60mph time of 3.09 seconds.
