Whistling from engine bay ???

I got a whistling noise coming from my engine. it gets a bit louder when i accelerate put nothing major. this started to happen when i change my power steering belt. Personally I think its the alternator but I will like some advice from other MK3 users

Over-tensioned belt or worn pulleys.

Vacuum hose leak
Water pump bearing
Power steering pump
Alternator
Air-Con compressor

Any of these could could a whistling noise with excessive wear.

could be the p/s belt being too tight then.

Check that first as they shouldnt be really tight! You should still be able to move the belt 5mm at least with your finger.
