was it spinning in the barrel? mine did this once and I believe it is some kind of security feature

no you couldnt get the last turn so it could be removed ,you could still start it and turn it off. Thank god my car is not a auto . Something to do with this if you have a auto gearbox and your key will not come out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hthax6Vv7LA
