1.8t conversion on eBay supplied and fitted £2500

AGU conversion is only like £400 or £500 at most for everything....I cant see it being much different to get into a mk3!

Really depends what you start with. Mine cost best part of 1500 and that was with no labour. But i had nothing to start with. So spent best part of 550quid on exhaust. Then had to buy a gearbox/mounts etc because i only had an 8v not a 16v. Then hydro parts. Clocks etc. But i also spent extra because i used alot of new sensors and things. But if id started with a valver i wouldnt of needed any of that.

Then fmic, silocone pipes, service parts like fiters and timing belts etc. It all mounts up pritty quickly. But you could do it pritty cheap too, depending on the car you start with and how sh!t you want it to be haha....

you can cut loads of corners and do it less but it will be a sh!t job

only way i do them now is changing alot of parts for genuine new, oil etc it all adds up big time

exhaust and down pipe is near £700 unless u just use your standard

as i say, some folk cit alot of corners and it usually bites you in the arse when its too late

I was about to comment saying similar.

I'd be concerned about the conversion being bodged together for that kind of price, remember whoever does the conversion will be taking a cut of the cost to cover their labour.

I'd guess that at least £500 of that will be labour, leaving £2000 for all parts required. As Brad has already mentioned a custom downpipe will cost a significant amount of that.

I'd want to hear feedback and see previous conversions before I even thought about parting with my cash.

It's a who you know type game. My dads mate makes custom exhaust systems for jap cars, mainly evo's as he loves them. He is welder by trade and decided to make his own and turned out to be good at it. The dyno said it all.

So I could get one made next to nothing who's saying this guy isn't the same?

I still wouldn't use this service though! You guys saying it costs more and you know!

There's enough info on the web to be able to do it yourself and save on cash.

You can do the conversion cheaper, you could get a Octavia VRS / Leon Cupra donor for £1500 and recoup money by selling all the parts you will not need, doing it this way means you could run the car around for a few weeks and make sure it is all ok and boosting as it should.

It does indeed, but for those people who don't have the time/space/ability/contacts to do it themselves a drive-in drive-out conversion is the only option.

I agree with what you have said and that would definitely be the way I would go about the conversion but at the end of the day £2.5k sounds too cheap for a conversion supplied & fitted. I'd be seriously questionning the quality of the work.
