« on: 07 November 2012, 09:52 »
Well ive found a large spring on the floof under my seat this morning with a cuple of bits of plastic that had snapped. Spring has a hook fitting on each end.
Is it something to do with the tilt of the seat or something.guesing the fixing point for it has snapped and thats what the plastic is????

Look underneath the opposing seat to see how it is meant to fit. But as Wez said, it makes bugger all difference to the workings of the seat

It is to do with the height adjustment, mine broke on the Skoda but it all seemed to work without it all ok.

Whilst you're at it, remove the passenger seats, passenger airbag and anything on the passenger side as you won't need it!!

Mine is also missing from drivers seat, I tried to fit it when replaced the foam base part but couldn't figure out how it fits at the rear part, as others say doesn't seem to affect any operation of the seat I think it is supposed to assist the height adjustment ie make the lever easier to operate? or something like that. Found this though so might have another go at it sometime...

Remove seat.

Note
Before removal, seat must be moved to highest position to reduce height adjustment spring tension as much as possible.

Remove screw 2 and unclip trim 1.
Unclip two covers 11, unscrew two bolts 12 and remove adjustment lever 13.
Remove screw 17 and unclip trim 14.

Carefully detach tensioning springs 2.
Unscrew three bolts arrows (10 Nm) and pull seat height adjustment element 1 out of seat frame.

Thanks for all your input guys. Think the best and most commonly used place to store it is the glove box :) )
