Fogged up windscreen
« on: 02 November 2012, 19:10 »
Has anyone else had this problem? As soon as cold damp weather started my windscreen has been fogging up really easily. It also takes forever to clear with heater and fan fully on. Any assistance would be much appreciated! Thanks

Do you drive around with your a/c on as I find this time of year I have the same problem with my Leon if I have been using it.

By comparison no problem with our Golf.

A/C will definitely help. i use it alot of the time in this sort of weather

my golf mists up a fair bit but our altea is even worse. i changed the pollen filter which improved it a bit

i would suggest replacing the cabin filter and see if it helps. if theyre dirty/blocked they can struggle to get fresh air into the cabin so the car mists up more.

Picked up my car on Monday and it's the first thing I noticed was the time to clear it.

I found physically cleaning the inside of my windscreen helped a lot. Just using the demister took it away at the time bit it was back the next night.  Since cleaning it with a proper glass cleaner its been absolutely fine.

where do you have the fan blowing?

i have it so no lights are on (all vents blow a little bit) and mine only mists up rarely.

Cleaning it regular helps. There's something on them from new from the factory that can take some getting off. It's like a fine slime I'm guessing its to help the robots stick to it. still not got it all off mine.

I use to cover motorbike visor in washing up liquid let it.dry then rub it.off it helped a lot.to stop it misting up. Never tried it on a car though.

funny this when gti's were built properly like my mk3 i have no issues with my windscreen fogging up even though where i live is very horrible! usually it means there's a slight leak were condensation can get in your vehicle  this can be helped by crystals in bags made for things like caravans and bought by places like your local tenting places or ebay  hope you sort this i hate it when i cant see where i am going

Sorry you misunderstood me, the a/c will clear it but its the fundamental cause when you then leave the car in winter as it leaves the ambient air in the car slightly moist, hence the steaming up when left.

Took me about 3 months into winter last year to find this out and once I stopped using the a/c and just the heaters it cured the problem.
