How do you guys average 30+ in an Ed35.. I'm on 27mpg and that was with a couple long runs pushing it up... and that's a standard GTI and I run 99 RON.  That said most of my driving is town or A roads when I can give it some, I hardly have a light right foot.

Do you have your computer set to 1 or 2?

Yeah the standard GTI has a more fuel efficient engine around 3mpg more. 60mph cruise control on A road journey bring around 32-34 mpg. Not to bothered about economy as daily only do 3 miles but interested to see what others get.

I am running a Mk6 GTi and a MK5 Edition 30 ( same engine as Edition 35 )at the moment.

Mk6 averages 30mpg around town and can easily push this to 40-45 mpg on a run
Mk5 Edition 30 averages 28 around town and can push this to 35-40 mpg on a run

Both run on Shell V power

Mk6 definitely more efficient but not as much fun
Mk6 GTi - returned to leasing company after 3 great years and replaced with :

Mk5 GTi - Edition 30 - Revo 1 and some tweaks - 310 bhp. Its a better car than the Mk6  - Now sold and replaced with :

Mk6 R - Rising Blue 5 Door. Won't be standard 270bhp for long

Family Car : Mercedes ML420 with 360 bhp
Looking at Porsche Macan as replacement

I don't really look at the computer, I only have it to display oil temp. I use Fuelly - http://www.fuelly.com/driver/scottandrews/gti

60mph cruise control on A road journey bring around 32-34 mpg.

You should get more MPG not using cruise control as you can read the road while cruise can't.

35mpg is pretty much my average when cruising on the motorway between 70-80mph.

I regard that as pretty good - my little 2005 Renault Clio 1.2 used to do a similar mpg!

Mark 7 GTI's claimed 47mpg sounds very good to me though!
