Need some advice please

Righteo just currently done a mk2 conversion on my golf the guy who did it said he put a 16v box on but he has,nt and put my 8v gear box back on !!! Its holding out but i dont trust it all .. So question is what do i need to fit a 16v box as ive heard so many bits and bobs thought il ask the pro,s ... Thanks jimmy

To run 16v box you need 16v friction plate as input shaft is bigger

also, unless the 16v box has had the diff rivets replaced by the bolt upgrade then the 8v box will generally be stronger as its had an easier life. But diff is the weak spot in all mk2 boxes, they all let go eventually just 16v usually first

Cool thanks for the help again gambit so you would say im ok to run this gearbox on my car ? Also ive noticed theres a slight oil leak comeing out the green plastic circle thing on the gearbox

The diff will prob go at some point depending on how hard you drive it due to increased torque going through it. Slip diff is what you really want

The leak is probably coming from driveshaft flange seals if thats the green plastic circle you are talking about
