That hole will be a bit bigger by time youve cut back and cleaned up,but yeah as said a nice one to do!
garages vary so much when it comes to welding ,price and quality ,get it done to cheap and you know its going to be crap ,id say £50-60 done properly  .

Very common problem. You'll probably find a few more bungs are rotted too.

It wasn't that bad, but had to cut it all out.

Passenger side

Drivers side

Welded in the plate from the inside and smoothed off the welds with a flap disc.

Tacked in drivers side.

Passenger side smoothed off

Both sides, inside and out were cleaned up, sprayed with zinc primer then seam sealed on the welds.

Then the inside was painted with some satin black and the outside was undersealed.

What are the bungs for?

To plug the drainage holes used for when the shell is dipped in primer in the factory. They let any excess drain out. They don't always get sealed properly.

Probably literally charge 60-70 quid to do that and strip back the underseal in the close proximity too check it's not spreading underneath.

Zinc, then seam seal, underseal, stone chip underneath then paint.

Not as long as it seems at all.

Where all my moneys went.

You have to be careful on one of the sides as there are brake or fuel lines (can't remember which)running close to those areas.

Almost all of the bungs running allong the sill on the nearside had traces of rust on mine, and it does spread under the underseal and you can't tell by looking at it.

To be sure, i removed all bungs and had a look. They weren't bad, but i cut any rot out anyway and welded a plate, to save grief later.

Most people wouldn't bother, but I was underneath in a pit, in a warm(ish) garage, so i carried on with it.

Cavity wax and epoxy resin paint should keep rust at bay.

lucky for some!!
im thinking about moving the living room furniture into the kitchen digging out the living room and park my car in there lol

the brake lines are on the passanger side and the fuel lines are on the drivers side, unless both are on drivers side.
