Is your 1990 mk2 CE1 (hazard switch on dash) or CE2 (hazard switch on steering column)?

Mk3 wiring is CE2 so if your car is CE2 the wiring will be straight forward. If your car is CE1 then more wiring will need to be done to convert your engine loom to match CE1 or change the wiring to CE2 to match the engine loom.

Engine mounts may be a straight swap, if not they are easy to fab up but I haven't done this conversion so don't know.

If your going to the trouble of fitting an AGG why not fit an ABF instead.

I fitted the abf in my ce2 and did a rebuild, an power steering refit in a little over a week, the abf is a nice reliable engine in the mk2, I'm now thinking about taking it all back out and going for something forced induction, I was expecting more thrills from the abf in the mk2 to be honest

Is your ABF running right? Not Many people complain about the feel of a mk2 ABF.

What gearbox do you have?

Yea She's running perfect, I'm running a vr6 clutch, passat pedal box with hydro clutch and the abf gearbox, on the mk3 front subframe and widetrack, with power steering from mk3 and mk3 288 brakes and 5 stud all round, also using the mk3 master cylinder, brakes feel fab..  i will be trying the eBay chip that I've been after for the last year, I had the engine for about 2 years as it came from my mk3, to be honest It runs really well, the power is really nice, handles very well, but I'm just after something more special, I would like to go down the route of abf turbo, however a good friend of mine has taken This route and his mk2 is stunning an has been done properly, I just can't sink the funds into it to do it correctly, so think I would be better for me and the funds available starting off with a forced induction engine,
There may be a 4mo being broken soon so I am looking to this perhaps, just after something that I can free up power more easily.
I am also after chasing a good friends VRT van, so when I say I'm unhappy, mainly because i have some rather stiff competition to stand out against, and the abf just ain't special enough in std ish form,
I'd also never driven a mk2 untill now so have nothing to compare against, but I'm having a culture shock from the mk3 I had as I loved it, I have my mk3 interior to go in so hopefully I will feel the love for this lil mk2 soon, just a massive jump from a fairly nice mk3 to a working progress mk2.  It will get there!!

The creature comforts is the reason i left the mk2. Was a bit to raw for my liking.

Maybe the ABF gearbox is why it feels a bit flat. Most keep the mk2 box with shorter final drive and it feels more lively.

Also you could go standalone on the ABF to release a bit more from it. Then its a bit of a stepping stone if you decide to turbo it. Which i would recommend. But most people would go the easy 1.8T route instead.
