Any MSAU licence holders?
« on: 27 September 2012, 14:42 »
Club where I'm based has a locost caterham thats available to race. Me and a lad on my course are interested in getting into it. Had a look online, and we need a starter pack before booking our national B licence. The pack contains an application form, but are they serialised? Reason for asking is that we are trying to keep startup costs low, so if we can split the price of the pack and just photocopy the application form, that would be a good start. No answers forthcoming on google btw. Cheers.

I have mates who've done their ARDs for Locost and Stock Hatch recently - I'll ask.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

Mate says he thinks you do need to buy one each, because of the medical form.

I'd buy one and look it through before making a decision.

Cheers DH. Being forces means we can get free medicals which is good.

Pid, yeah it is mate. The guy that races it atm is on his PO's course at Collingwood, as are we. We spoke to him on wednesday and it seems a good way to start. It used to be mostly officers who ran it, and it was really clicky before. Its all Jr/Snr rates now so is more open to everyone which is great. They are building a second one atm as well, so the future looks bright!

After a bit of research, it doesn't seem too bad cost wise. We can use our SLCs toward the licence, so thats £170 off. There are also ways to get a little bit of funding towards kit which is pretty good too, and the RAF run a championship which doesn't cost anything to enter on race meets so thats a bonus, as the national run events are between £200 and £300 each meet. We can also sign out a van to tow it to events, and claim for duty travel.  Gonna get the starter pack now, and book in for the test after Xmas me thinks.
Thanks guys!

RAF team won the Birkett 6 hour relay race last year.  What you've outlined above makes it clear why.

Glad you lot are spending our tax money so well.
