I have owned both 8 and 16 valvers and I would say that there a far better car than the 106 gti. 106 gti are for wee boys that think there cool. The first day I got my 8v I raced one and I overtook it at about 70. I was very dissapointed and I think they are overated especially by my mates who are into pugs. The fact is how many 106 gti's will you see driving about in 10 years? Very Few!

Thats why 106's are faster than golfs, as they accellerate buts fall off making them lighter and lighter and as we all know it's all bout power to weight!

Last RWYB I went to before Bugjam there were some guys there with 8 valve, 16 valve and VR6  mk 2 + 3 golfs all as standard as each other and an immense battle started all swapping cars and stuff and in the end mk2 was faster in every version by about 1 second. good watching and settled a few grudges!
