Took the golf in for an MOT today after being SORNd for 6 months.
It failed on a few things.
The worst of offences was a leaking brake hose, I took the O/S rear wheel off and could see the fluid leaking out from where the hose meets the calliper. There's a 10mm (IIRC) nut holding it in place and what I guess is a tensioning clip of some sort which was loose, but the nut couldn't be tightened (although I didn't want to try too hard)
This brake was also binding (another reason for failure) which they thought could be calliper problems.

The clip travelled way too easily in comparison to the N/S one, could this be the reason for the leak?
Another reason for failure was the N/S parking brake "recorded little or no effort".
When I went to check out the handbrake adjustment nut it was quite loose, possibly threaded as it didn't come in our out when loosened or tightened. Not sure how I'd go about sorting this in time for the retest Tuesday

Also need a bloody rust patch welded on one of the seat belt anchor points
Anyone got a clue on the cost of the welding? And anyone think of any solutions to the brake dilemma?
