drop it in boiling water see if it opens

sorry...thought you meant the temp sender switch.....

Yes i did test the thermostat in boiling water and it did open

very common for the fan module to give up if you've got climate

right, a quick update.....

I have been reading through other threads and it said another way to test the water pump is to get the car up to temperature and turn on the heaters. If they blow hot air then the pump is ok. But if they blow cold air the pump has had it...and guess what......mine was blowing cold air...think a new water pump is on the cards......

if the belt has not been done in a few years do that aswell while you have it off  :smiley:

just one thought: temp sender does not equal fan thermo switch.... does the fan run if contacts at the switch connector are bridged? If yes, then most likely a faulty switch.
