Electric Windows - 2 Tyres
« on: 03 July 2005, 14:01 »
Hi Guys

well ive just brought a pair of electic windows. I understand there are two types.. Well after i brought them i realise there are.

Basically the guide runners on the manual type i have just removed have 2x fixing bolts at each end. The electic version i have brought only has one bolt at each end. So i need the ones like in the following picture? Can anyone help...

Cheers

should be fine with one bolt at each end mate. Could swap the runner bit over but that could cause other problems/hassle

the motor seems to get in the way of the glass sliding down.. does the motor fit in the same place as the orginial manual winder??

it should fit in the same place. did you get mechanisms on the right door? are they original motors or aftermarket ones?

could also be that the glass isnt sitting in its runner. happend to me a few times :lipsrsealed:

tip: use some duck tape out to hold the window while your working on fittin the motors

OK thanks for the advice.. still not sure on how there gonna get in. recon i might have wrong type.. if these are to fit the metal part which holds the glass will need to be moved to the right.. I am guessing this isnt gonna be too easy to shift..

Just had another look.. If anything the new electric motors could use the blue holes.. I THINK... and the red holes are the for the standard winder.. i would still have to move the piece of metal and rubber which grips the glass..ummm

you might have bought electric windows that fit the early spec golfs with quarterlights

the mechanism look like 90 spec ones to me apart from the bolt holes

Have a go at fitting the motor till it all lines up.

You have to roll the window down about to get to the mechanism bolts that hold onto the glass

The running which the Mech attaches to the glass on the bolt holes are in the wrong place.. meaning i would have to move the Strip of metal and rubber along the glass to meet up with the runner. Ive had a go and its F*cking tight...
