It's an old car - you're going to spend money on it.

I have an OEM cable-clutch set up in my Syncro, which avoided all this complicated hydraulic clutch nonsense.  It's a bit heavy, but not terminal.

ABF and you could probably keep your 020 gearbox... and the handling of the car.

VR6 and you're needing a replacement subframe IIRC and you'll definitely be running on the 02A gearbox.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Just for info.

Reasons for using a Corrado vr6 doner:
2.9 engine
Keep 4 stud (no extra cost buying 5 stud wheels) + it keeps things a bit more retro/sleeper style
Pedalbox is easier to fit than mk3 pedalbox
Bit faster than using mk3 vr6 doner

Reasons against Corrado:
Doners are more expensive
Im not sure the fuel tank fits a mk2 (check this)

Reasons for using a Mk3 vr6 doner:
Generally cheaper & easier to find
I know for a fact the fuel tank is a straight swap
You will swap to 5 stud 'widetrack' (About 2" wider and different selection of wheels)

Reasons against Mk3:
Takes a bit longer to do the conversion because you have to swap rear beam over and pedal box is a PITA to fit (I recommend getting a Rado vr6 pedal box to avoid skinned knuckles and a whole day spent just on this)
Can't keep 4 stud if using mk3 hubs etc.

The other things that need to be upgraded are G60 front brakes or bigger. Heavier poundage front springs. Better tyres.
Also think about how low the car is. Due to having to cut the rear engine mount down by 25-35mm so the bonnet clears the engine the sump sits low. Don't forget the front chassis rail 'mod'
